Introducing our 2019 Winner: Madison Doubek

Madison Doubek is our 2019 winner of the Call to Serve Scholarship, and we were lucky enough to catch her reaction to winning on video! Madison has had a lifelong interest in criminal justice, but she didn’t discover it was a possible major until she was older. Now a junior at Loras Colleges in Dubuque, Iowa, with dual majors in criminal justice and psychology, Madison has a special desire to reform the field from one of punishment to one of rehabilitation. She hopes to use her criminal justice and psychology training to assist those with mental health challenges that have resulted in their troubles with the law by helping them find the root causes of their situations and move past them. She truly sees those in the criminal system as human beings, and her ideas about how she can improve the system and the lives of those involved helped make her our 2019 scholarship recipient.

We are proud to award the Call to Serve scholarship to amazing people like Madison every year. We look forward to continuing to help criminal justice students achieve their goal of making the world a safer place.
