Overview
The Old West is rife with lawmen who straddled both sides of the law. Idaho’s Dave Updyke was a crooked sheriff who, along with three other men, robbed a stagecoach carrying gold bars valued at nearly 2 million dollars in today’s money. The gold was never found. Some believe it’s still buried somewhere a few miles outside of Pocatello. The citizens of Idaho enjoy a much more peaceful existence today. The state ranks among the safest in the nation.
