Overview

Idaho is one state that has richly benefited from the field of criminal justice. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Idaho has the 8th lowest rate of violent crimes that is partially due to the implementation of various policing and justice procedures.

However, in recent years, Idaho has seen a spike in its prison population. According to The Spokesman Review, most states have declining prison populations. As a result, the state government in Idaho has pledged over $250,000 to lowering the prison population and overhauling the criminal justice system. They plan on reaching this goal by changing sentencing, treatment, and rehabilitation of criminals sentenced to time in prison.
